MAGSAYSAY, together with Costa Cruises, has been updated today about the Costa Cruises ships regarding important information for the protection of its crew members’ health and safety.
As a precautionary measure, Costa Cruises ships screen the temperature of all guests, visitors, and crew members and check for any flu-like symptoms. As part of its health protocol, crew members are currently occupying guest cabins – at one (1) crew member per cabin. All crew members are provided with food and are treated well.
Magsaysay is in contact with Costa Cruises for the repatriation of Filipino crew members and the treatment of those requiring immediate hospital care. Repatriations back to the Philippines will be scheduled soon only for those who test negative to the coronavirus. Any crew member who tests positive will be medically disembarked and brought to a hospital in Italy for further treatment and medical care. Any crew member who have had close contact with a crew member or guest who tested positive will be brought to a hotel in Italy and will undergo quarantine with medical support for observation.
Costa Cruises continues to closely coordinate with the Italian Government – which introduced measures to contain the health emergency, following provisions of the decree of the Italian Prime Minister.
Magsaysay is in communication with the families of any affected crew, updating them of any developments.
Magsaysay values the privacy and confidentiality of the identities of crew and their families and is in close contact with the POEA, OWWA, DOLE, DOH, and other government agencies, updating them of developments, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our Filipino seafarers working on board the ship.
More information will be shared as it becomes available.
