Asahi Tanker Co., Ltd. partnered with Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC) to hold Crew Safety Seminar last August 29-30 at the Magsaysay Institute of Shipping (MIS) in Dasmarinas, Cavite. The “Work Together, Work Safely” seminar gathered 40 officers and crew members for 2 days of seminars and workshops including a team building activity and the Crew and Family Day.

Participants were welcomed by Alex Enriquez, Institute Director of MIS; Ernesto Yutadco, Vice President and Marine Group Head of MMC; C/E Angelito Mamawag, Fleet HR Director of MMC; Takaaki Sowa, Seafarers Team Leader of Asahi Tanker; and Capt. J.S. Kim, QMO of Asahi Tanker. The 2-day event kicked-off with a team building activity and was enthusiastically participated in by the officers and crew members.

The seminar also served as a platform to provide good training and to enhance the seafarers’ knowledge on safety operations. Among the points of discussion were vetting inspection, guidance for compliance with the 2020 'Global Sulphur Cap', updates on MLC and MARINA, mental health awareness, common human errors onboard, and proper first-aid training.

As a way of showing appreciation for the invaluable contribution of its Filipino officers and crew members, Asahi Tanker held a Crew and Family Day where twenty (20) awardees were honored and recognized for their loyalty and outstanding performance onboard. The gathering also gave vacationing crew and their families a chance to bond together and build good relationship with their fellow crew.
